#5 – March 25
After taking some time off from writing the newsletter for the last two months I’m finally back with some new projects I haven’t shared here yet.
Cafe Schadek
I’ve been wanting to shoot some portfolio work for quite some time now but never really gotten around to do it. This one definitely was a really fun one, getting the chance to shoot at the beautiful Cafe Schadek with an amazing team.
I really wanted to capture a super warm and sunny mood but unfortunately the sun was hiding behind some buildings at the time of shooting. So we had to set up some strobes outside the coffee place and just brought our own sun. Always fun to have beautiful morning sun all day long and shaping the light from scratch.
Huge thank you to the team: Digi-Tech/Assistant: Moritz Günther; Hair & Makeup: Madlen H.; Styling: Lena Marie; Models: Nadja Lengyel, Kate Krammer and Lena Koch
Simon Schwarz
A little while ago I got to take some portraits of actor Simon Schwarz for some TV show press assets. After getting the requested pictures Simon was nice enough to stay for a couple extra minutes to get some a little bit more creative pictures. Really like how they turned out.
Podcast
As it’s been two months since the last newsletter I had the chance to rack up quite the list of really interesting conversations. Picking a couple favorite ones is really hard but here are some anyway.
One super inspirational conversation was when I talked to Almut Becvar, Creative Director at Studio Riebenbauer, about the power of emotion and storytelling in design. We discuss her journey, the impact of spatial design, and how brands build authentic identities—plus the challenges and responsibilities of the creative industry.
I could highlight so many episodes but here I talked to photographer Julie Brass about her journey in advertising photography. We discuss set communication, industry challenges for women, and how creativity helps overcome them—plus her advice for young photographers and the growing push for diversity and inclusion.
Things I’ve seen or heard
A while ago a friend of mine showed me an amazing creative duo called Serifa. They create amazing abstract but still realistic images with AI and definitely found a really unique style that has inspired me over and over again.
The second content piece I really wanted to share was this amazing episode of the “Mutter & Muße” Podcast. Podcast host Anouk Rehorek talked to communications consultant Kira Schinko about her journey from running a design studio to fostering community-driven projects—while expecting her first child. They discuss gender inequality in the creative industry, her partner’s role as her “maternity advocate,” and why exaggeration can sometimes be key to clarity. Super inspiring!
Well that’s it for this month. Not sure if I’ll try and get back into a monthly rhythm or just take it as it comes. Anyway feel free to let me know what kind of things you would like me to include in these newsletters or if you have any other suggestions for improvements.
Have a great day and smile at someone today :)
Talk to you soon
